MEET KIM ENGEN

Picture
Kim Engen is a passionate piano and theory teacher that has taught in Regina for over 25 years.  Kim strives to tailor her lessons to each student’s individual needs and goals while incorporating a variety of music, activities and experiences.  She enjoys including technology in her teaching and has given numerous workshops to teachers on the use of the iPad in the piano studio.

Kim holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina and in 2010 completed her ARCT in Piano Pedagogy.  Kim did her professional studies with Janice Elliott-Denike, studying intermediate and advanced piano repertoire and pedagogy.  She now attends numerous workshops, conferences, master classes and performances to further her musical and pedagogical knowledge.  Kim was pleased to be awarded the Dorothy Bee Scholarship for Piano Pedagogy in 2009.

Kim encourages her students to achieve excellence through a variety of musical experiences.  Her students consistently receive high marks on RCM exams, with many students achieving RCM Gold Medals.  In addition, her students are very successful at the Regina Music Festival.  Students are given numerous performance opportunities, including recitals, music festivals, public performances, performance classes and studio parties.

Kim is an active member of the SRMTA Regina Branch, currently serving as Treasurer and organizer of the adult and Halloween student recitals.  She also presently represents the SRMTA on the University of Regina Senate.

Kim believes that through music, we can live happier, more confident and creative lives.  Kim’s goal is to create a rewarding and fun experience for her students, giving them an outlet for self-expression and bringing beauty into their busy lives.
