MEET JANICE ELLIOTT-DENIKE
Janice is a well-established pianist and teacher, having worked professionally in Regina since 1978. She is known for her excellence as a performer and teacher.
Her students consistently achieve top results in local, provincial and national levels, including RCM exams, local music festivals, provincial finals of music festival, the provincial Gustin Piano Competition, Wallis Piano Competition, Florence Bowes Competition, the Saskatchewan Music Festival/Regina Symphony Concerto Competition, the National Finals of the Canadian Music Competitions, National Finals of the Music Festival, and the CFMTA National Piano Competition. Many of Janice's students have continued in successful music careers of their own.
Janice's major teachers have been Prof. William Moore (University of Regina), which whom she attained her Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance with Great Distinction and was awarded the University's prestigious President's Medal. She subsequently studied with Dr. Ernesto Lejano (Edmonton), Herbert Stessin (Juilliard, New York) at the renowned Aspen Festival, and most recently has attended summer schools with eminent teachers, Marc Durand and Julian Martin.
Playing the piano has been Janice's passion ever since age four. During her studies, she won many awards. As a professional concert performer, she has played widely as a concerto soloist, solo recitalist, chamber musician, and collaborative artist. She has been frequently broadcast on CBC Radio, both regionally and nationally.
Her teaching is known and recognised by numerous colleagues across the country. She has adjudicated in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, and given numerous workshops and masterclasses to teachers and students.
Janice is a dedicated teacher who makes her students her priority. Through a positive, engaging manner and a lifetime of experience, Janice loves to help students develop their piano skills and love of classical music. In 2018, Janice was the recipient of the 'Teacher of Distinction' Award, given by the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto.
