MEET RACHEL XIAO
Rachel has studied piano since she was 4-year old. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Xi’an Conservatory of Music and has studied in Shanghai Conservatory of Music in China. Rachel is a Certified Teacher through Royal Conservatory of Music and has taught piano for 15 years. For her, music is a pleasant life-long journey and this concept is something that she would like to pass to her students while she shares her music knowledge with them.
Rachel speaks Mandarin and English and can teach in either language. She accepts students ranging in age from 4-years old to adult and for all levels.
She has lesson plans to support students in setting up long-term and short-term goals for each individual. These plans include:
*participation in recitals,
*music festivals,
*competitions, and
*exams.
Many of her students have received high marks in their RCM exams, won first and second place in music festivals, and are winners of provincial student composition competitions.
She helps students learn proper techniques and teaches music literary and musicianship to build up music memory through the use of the inner ear. Rachel also teaches sight-reading skills, works with students to develop artistry and expression to create the freedom to make music. She identifies her students' overall purpose for taking piano lessons by designing a plan of study and choosing the repertoire while monitoring the pace of study to help students achieve their goals. Overall, she would like to act as the bridge that leads students on their way to a pleasant music journey.
