The Registered Music Teachers of Swift Current are hosting a fabulous workshop in September to launch the new teaching year! We are thrilled to present Saskatchewan's own composer, Janet Gieck, who will be sharing her tips for both composing and studio development.
In addition, Cobb Swanson Music of Regina will be in attendance with a selection of books. They will also be taking pre-orders so you can pick them up when you arrive! You can order the new RCM books, or come and browse a selection of Canadian pieces to prepare students for Canada Music Week in November.
Agenda: 11:00-12:00 How to Make Money before Four:
One of the facts of life about being a musician is that most of our money is made during other people’s leisure time (ie. after 4pm). However, if we think creatively and are willing to try some new things, there are some possibilities out there that would enable us to use our musical talents profitably during the earlier hours of the day. In this workshop, we will explore some of these possibilities as well as some of the traits that will help make these ventures more successful in today’s competitive marketplace.
12:00 – 1:00 Buffet Lunch in the Art Gallery
1:00 – 3:00 Inspiring Creativity and Composing Workshop:
In this interactive workshop, we will examine the importance of including creativity in the music lesson. We will also discuss some suggestions for getting a student started in the composition journey, and review some resources and games for developing the skills involved in composition.
